Álló, háromszögletű, zöld színű katonai pajzs; amelyet arany kereszt oszt négy mezőre. Az első mezőben arany szőlőfürt és hegyével felfelé forduló szőlőmetsző kés lebeg, amelyet a korábban önálló község, Borsod városrész egykori pecsétnyomójából emeltek be. A második mezőben arany F betű lebeg, amely Finke városrészre utal; a korábban önálló község egykori pecsétnyomóján Fi Fa (Finke falu) felirat volt látható. A harmadik mezőben élével kifelé és hegyével lefelé fordított arany ekevas lebeg, amelyet Edelény egykori pecsétnyomójából emeltek be. A negyedik mezőben arany ék és kalapács lebeg, utalva a több mint száz éven át folytatott, az 1990-es évek közepén megszűnt bányászkodásra. A pajzs közepén vörös szívpajzs, amelynek mezejében kékkel fegyverzett arany sólyom, az államalapítás korában itt közigazgatási székhelyet kialakított Bors nemzetség címerállata lebeg. A pajzstartó az egyik oldalon zöld cserfaág, a másik oldalon zöld olajág. A pajzs alatt arany szalag lebeg fekete EDELÉNY felirattal.

Triangular military shield erect, quarterly and vert. Shield is partitioned by a cross or. In dexter chief a bunch of grapes and a pruning knife or are borne, both encouped. The knife is pointing downward. These charges have been taken over from the one-time seal of the formerly independent settlement of Borsod. In sinister chief the letter F or is borne encouped, a motif, which is a reference to the initial of the formerly independent settlement of Finke, one-time part of the settlement. The seal print of the settlement used to bear the inscription Fi Fa, that is Finke falu (the village of Finke). In dexter base the charge of a ploughshare is borne, or, pointing downward and with its edge turning outward. This charge was taken over from the former seal print of the town of Edelény. In sinister base a wedge and a hammer are borne, both or. These charges are references to mining, an occupation, which lost its significance in the mid-1990s. In the centre of the shield an escutcheon gules, adorned with the charge of a falcon or, armed azure. The falcon used to be the heraldic bird of the Bors clan, the members of which founded the settlement and made it into an eadministrative centre in the period of the foundation of the Hungarian state.
Mantling: an oak and an olive branch, both vert. Below the shield a ribbon or is borne, with the settlement’s name EDELÉNY inscribed in it in letters sable.
